A Monegasque national, Richelmi is the son of international rally champion Jean-Pierre Richelmi and a successful second-generation driver in his own right. With an early passion for cars, he began his Formula career at the age of 16 and two years later entered Formula 3 with a debut in Barcelona. Career highlights include being the GP2 Series Monaco winner in 2014 with DAMS, the Le Mans winner in 2015 with Alpine and the WEC’s LMP2 World Champion in 2016 with Signatech-Alpine.
VROOM are excited to announce their partnership with Richelmi this year in respect of his sponsorship-sourcing activities. With a comprehensive and far-reaching network within the tech community, VROOM will engage with the best sponsor candidates by leveraging their relationships with blue-chip tech companies and their C-Level executives, built over many years from their headquarters in Monaco.
Richelmi gave a special interview with the event host and Formula 1 Fan Zone presenter Gemma Scott about his racing career and life as a driver. Among many outstanding cars on display, he sampled the stunning McLaren 570s GT4, a full competition spec racing car, the Lightyear One, a road-safe solar car disrupting the electric mobility industry, and the ultimate man’s toy, the Formula 1 simulator car by WAVE Italy made in Ferrari’s home town of Maranello.
As a long-standing friend of the Schlesser family, Richelmi is following this year’s Africa Eco Race, the annual rally raid connecting Europe to West Africa. The 12th edition of the race will leave from Monaco on 4th January 2020 to begin an intense 12 days of racing culminating in Dakar. The race also carries out eco-oriented projects in partnership with AMADE Mondiale including the annual distribution of solar lamps to remote villages in Mauritania as well as many other initiatives throughout the event.
Alongside his driving activities Richelmi has also established the property development company Monegasque de Construction (M2C), working on individual apartments and entire buildings in Monaco and the Cote d’Azur.
